The Whole AI Stack Reported: No Peak in Sight

For the past few months, the market has been telling a scary story about AI stocks. The build-out has peaked, the story goes. The money is drying up. The whole thing is a giant circle of companies paying each other with borrowed cash, and the music is about to stop.
That story knocked many of the best AI infrastructure stocks down 30%, 40%, even 70% from their summer highs. But all week, we’ve heard from the companies that actually build AI data centers, and they’ve been telling a very different, consistent story: accelerating growth, surging demand, orders piling up, and no slowdown in sight.
In the last 24 hours alone, we heard from eight AI supply chain companies, each from a different layer of the stack, and all of them were wildly positive. GE Vernova (NYSE:GEV) makes the turbines that generate the power. Vertiv Holdings (NYSE:VRT) cools the chips and manages their power. Amphenol (NYSE:APH) makes the connectors that wire everything together. Flex (NASDAQ:FLEX) builds the racks and power systems. Ultra Clean Holdings (NASDAQ:UCTT) and Teradyne (NASDAQ:TER) supply the tools that make and test the chips. SK Hynix (NASDAQ:SKHY) makes the memory, and Seagate Technology (NASDAQ:STX) makes the hard drives that store all the data.
That’s the whole AI stack, from the power plant to the hard drive. Every one of them beat expectations, and not one guided down.To be sure, headline beats are nice, but they aren’t what tells you whether a cycle is peaking. For that, we look at three tells: orders, pricing, and visibility.
Tell #1: Orders Are Running Faster Than Shipments
At a genuine cycle top, new orders slow down before revenue does, because customers stop placing new bets while the company is still shipping old ones. So, you watch the “book-to-bill” ratio, which compares new orders to sales shipped. A ratio above 1 means the order book is growing. A ratio below 1 means it’s shrinking.
Here’s what we got. GE Vernova’s orders nearly doubled, up 96%, for a book-to-bill above 2, and it’s now selling turbine delivery slots for 2032. Vertiv’s organic orders more than doubled while organic sales grew about 55%. Amphenol booked a record $12.2 billion of orders, for a 1.19 book-to-bill, and its organic growth sped up from 30% to 37%. Flex’s growth is accelerating every single quarter this year.
Orders aren’t rolling over. They’re running faster than these companies can ship.
Tell #2: Pricing Power
The second tell is pricing, and it’s just as clear. When a cycle peaks, prices flatten first. Instead, GE Vernova’s 2026 gas turbine pricing is running about 50% above 2025 levels and still climbing. Seagate says it’s in a rising-price environment heading into 2028 contract talks. Flex named pricing as one of its margin drivers.
Pricing power on this scale only shows up when demand is outrunning supply, and that’s exactly what management teams described: component shortages at Ultra Clean and Flex, a widening supply gap at Seagate, and record margins everywhere. SK Hynix posted an 80% operating margin. That’s a memory company, historically one of the most boom-and-bust businesses in tech, earning margins most luxury brands would envy.
Tell #3: Visibility Into 2028 and Beyond
The third tell, and maybe the most important, is visibility: how far into the future these companies can see.
A few months ago, the big debate was whether AI spending would hold up in 2027. That debate is basically over. Ultra Clean says customers are now confirming more than $200 billion of chip-equipment spending for 2027, and it called 2028 “more or less booked.” SK Hynix has long-term agreements covering more than half its 2027–28 capacity. Seagate has most of its supply locked up under long-term contracts through 2028, with some running to 2030. Teradyne’s management put it bluntly: 2027 will be a good year, and 2028 will be even better.
The peak the market was so worried about hasn’t disappeared, but it has been pushed out to 2028–29 at the earliest. Meanwhile, the stocks were priced as if it were arriving next quarter. That’s the opportunity.
