A renowned adventure photographer suffered severe spinal injuries after plummeting 200 feet while hiking in Portugal, his family revealed.
Kyle Quin Schrock, of San Diego, was hiking in Madeira on October 11 when the trail crumbled beneath him, his sister-in-law said.
“He was airlifted to the hospital, where he is still in the ICU waiting for spinal surgery, the healing of his broken ribs, and the draining of his lungs,” Tara Schrock wrote in a GoFundMe campaign launched to support his recovery.

“He has a long road to recovery with travel assistance, rehabilitation and further medical needs in the USA. He will also not be able to work for months,” she added.
