IG Group Holdings has cancelled 24,522,153 ordinary shares held in its treasury account, reducing its issued share capital to 337,035,715 shares.
The cancellation took place on 5 November 2026, according to a regulatory announcement issued under UK Listing Rule.
London's trading industry is coming home!
IG has previously used share buybacks to return capital to shareholders. In March 2026, the company announced a £125 million repurchase programme, which began on 1 April and was split into two tranches of up to £62.5 million each. Morgan Stanley was appointed to execute the purchases, with the acquired shares initially held in treasury.
IG Cancels Treasury Shares, Voting Rights Fall
The programme was subsequently cancelled after IG announced its proposed acquisition of US prediction markets operator Underdog in July. By 3 August, IG had repurchased 1,994,774 shares under the programme for approximately £32.9 million.
Each cancelled share had a nominal value of 0.005 pence. Following the cancellation, IG no longer holds any shares in treasury.
The company's total number of shares carrying voting rights therefore stands at 337,035,715.
IG said shareholders should use this figure as the denominator when calculating whether they need to notify the company of their shareholdings or changes to their interests under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
The cancellation relates to shares already held in treasury and does not represent a new share purchase or sale by the company.
IG CEO and CFO Buy £756,000 in Shares
The cancellation follows recent share purchases by IG's senior executives. CEO Breon Corcoran bought 70,000 shares in two transactions in October, spending approximately £661,913. He purchased 30,000 shares at £9.45 each and a further 40,000 at an average of £9.46. Separately, CFO Clifford Abrahams bought 10,000 shares at £9.44 each, paying approximately £94,399.
Both executives made their purchases on the London Stock Exchange . Their combined purchases totalled 80,000 shares worth approximately £756,312. The transactions followed a 27% fall in IG's share price, after the company lowered its revenue growth outlook for 2026. The regulatory filings did not disclose the reasons for the purchases.
