Trump says he is happy with Hegseth, dismisses WaPo report

President Donald Trump said Thursday he is satisfied with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's performance, following a report about tensions over weapons stockpiles.

Trump posted on social media that he is "extremely happy with the job that Pete Hegseth is doing." He added that "everything has been extraordinary, including our attack on Venezuela" and in Iran, "where the country has been decimated."

The statement came after The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Trump expressed frustration with Hegseth during a Cabinet meeting last week over munitions shortages. The report said Trump felt he had been misled about weapons stockpile levels.

Trump denied the report and said defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in the country's history.

In a separate post, the president said authorities are pursuing individuals who leak information. Trump called the leaked statements "treasonous" and said long-term jail sentences will be sought.
