Lula’s lead over Bolsonaro narrows to 1 point in latest poll

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s advantage over right-wing challenger Senator Flavio Bolsonaro decreased ahead of the October election, according to a Quaest poll commissioned by Globo released today.

The survey shows that in a simulated second-round runoff, Lula would receive 42% of the vote compared with 41% for Flavio Bolsonaro, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

A previous Quaest poll released on August 14 showed Lula leading Bolsonaro by 43% to 40%.
